Carolyn and Tom's Country Garden Wedding

Carolyn and Tom's Real Life Wedding at The Barn at Bury Court

Carolyn and Tom looked at so many venues in and around Surrey, but fell in love with The Barn at Bury Court as soon as they saw it. "It has so much character and offered exactly what we wanted - beautiful gardens for the drinks reception and a big light airy room for the main reception with a separate area for dancing afterwards. As well as outside space where we put games like garden Jenga and boules for after dinner." Carolyn and Tom's Real Life Wedding at The Barn at Bury Court

Carolyn's three bridesmaids wore beautiful green long backless dresses from JLM Europe with wands of orange calla lillies. The groom and groomsmen wore dark grey morning suits with green ties to match the bridesmaid's dresses. Tom had an orange calla lily, the best man, ushers and father of the bride had yellow roses.

Carolyn's dress had layers of material/tulle over the main dress, which softened the overall look, with crystal detail and crystal buttons running down the back before the very long train flowed out in layers. She also wore a Swarovski crystal tiara and veil with trim and crystal detail. Carolyn's bouquet was made of orange, red and yellow roses with real blackcurrants. Carolyn and Tom felt that the barn needed no decoration as the room is beautiful in itself, but they did have flowers and ivy draped on the pillars and balcony which were also lit by fairy lights. The flowers were orange in honour of them meeting on an Easyjet flight and because they wanted a bright colour for a Summer wedding. They also decorated the pond in the garden with gerberas on the lily pads and their florist did an amazing bay tree at the entrance with real oranges and kumquats. For the table centrepieces they chose a mix of tall vases and lower goldfish bowls with a real goldfish inside! The place names were made out of champagne cork cage wires - each one was shaped into a miniature chair and then the name tag placed on the 'seat'. They then used green ribbon to decorate the napkins.

For favours they gave Welsh lovespoons to the girls, as Carolyn is from Wales, with green ribbon and a descriptive card attached to each one in the same design as their invites. The cake was a three tiered plain cake which was made up of fruit, lemon and chocolate layers. In between each layer were flowers in glass vases. When asked for advice to other couples Carolyn says "It was great to have time to ourselves on the day during the thirty-minute drive to the reception. It is also worth putting in the time to prepare and spend time with your suppliers to make sure you discuss everything you want as that definitely paid off for us on the day. We did not have to manage anything and could really just enjoy ourselves."
